Diagnostic imaging in patient with liquefied aftercataract
A new case presentation in the American Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports provides additional evidence on how ANTERION® images can make a difference in clinical diagnosis and follow-up.
A research group from the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Heidelberg used ANTERION on a patient with presumed IOL opacification. The 81-year-old woman had reported a gradual vision loss in her right eye for two years, years after a previous cataract surgery. The IOL model was unknown. Anterior segment OCT imaging using ANTERION helped uncover that the accumulation of a milky substance in the capsular bag was, in fact, a liquefied aftercataract. With this insight, the appropriate treatment for the patient could be initiated and an unnecessary intraocular surgery was avoided.
